Pterophyllum scalare;
This is a very specially aquarium species for me. It was this species how was bringing the first big success to my work with the hobby. In 1970 – 1972 it was bringing very much joy to me when I had success to breeding the species in quantity of several hundred young scalars. To see a 160 liters aquarium with 250 x 5-6 cm small scalar youngsters is a very big Experian’s for a young boy. To know it is your work how has given all this small scalars life was given me a feeling of joy inside me I still remembered. This has been one of the most important Experian’s in the hobby for me. I remember it like it was yesterday, this feeling I hope very much young aquarist also get in the future.

What is not so good to see today is all this man made variants of scalar and I find most of them very ugly. Sometime it is very difficult to find the natural and original scalar, and sometime it is easier to find wild scalar in the shop. Wild scalar will never deceive you, it shows the true behavior of the specie and the genetic is clean. This is the type of scalar I want to work with today and 40 year ago I got original scalar with natural behavior. This is my ideal scalar and hopes to show more of this specie in pictures.
